Duas & Azkar after prayer

The short period of time after every obligatory prayer is the one when our duas are accepted. Our Prophet (PBUH) and his companions used to recite some adhkaar after every obligatory prayer.

Abu Umama al-bahili (Allah be pleased with him) narrates that messenger of Allah (PBUH) was asked as to which dua was most quickly accepted? He replied

” In the middle of the night and after the obligatory prayers”

 (Sunan Tirmidhi)

Whosoever wishes that his/her sins removed should use this golden opportunity of remaining of his/her place after the completion of prayer.

These are three different types of adhkaars proved from our Prophet (PBUH).

  • Supplications
  • Phrases of Remembrance
  • Recitation from Quran

If we search from hadith books we find number of adhkaar proved to be recited after obligatory prayer. Here I am going to share few of them commonly in practice by ulema-e-deen.

When the Prophet (PBUH) finished his prayers, he started with his saying of “Astagh-firullah” three time.(Sahih muslim).

Three Time

Then he would say the reported supplication.

Then he would commence making these tasbeehs, each phrase 33 times.

Abu Huraira reported Allah Messenger (s.a.w) as saying. “If anyone extols Allah after every prayer thirty-three times, and praises Allah thirty-three, and declares His Greatness thirty-three time, ninety-nine times in all, and says to complete a hundred: There is no god but Allah, having no partner with Him, to Him belongs sovereignty and to Him is praise due, and He is Potent over everything, his sins will be forgiven even if these are as abundant as the foam of the sea. ( Sahih muslim)

33 Time Each

Recite this one time

Our Prophet (s.a.w) would use to recite Aayat ul kursi after each obligatory prayer.

One who recites Ayatul Kursi after every fardh salah, during death his soul will be taken out as easily as one takes out a strand of hair from dry flour.

Another hadith narrates that nothing will be between him and heaven who recites Ayatul kursi after fardh salat immediately in the position he is seated

Then he would say the reported supplications.

A companion of Rasool (PBUH) requested to the Rasool (PBUH) to teach him a supplication which he could recite in his prayer .thereupon rasool( PBUH) said ;

These are the adhkaar which take few minutes after prayer to be recite but give a great reward and also remove our small sins. These are the practices of our beloved prophet and his companion .as we know that holy month of ramzan is coming, we should try make reciting these duas in our routine to seek great reward.
